In terms of your physical appearance, your face is what identifies you as a unique individual. It is true that no two faces (even those of identical twins) are exactly the same. Dr. Hobar’s goal in facial cosmetic surgery is to focus on what makes you beautiful as an individual and to enhance that while creating results that are both natural and lasting. With the advanced training Dr. Hobar received in facial surgery, his knowledge of facial anatomy provides a comprehensive understanding of how the physical components of the face: underlying bone and cartilage structure, connective tissues and muscle, fatty tissue and skin work in symphony to produce your aesthetic features. As your surgeon, Dr. Hobar will apply a highly individualized and precise surgical plan to meet your goals.
Otoplasty (Ear Surgery)
Otoplasty, commonly known as ear pinning, is a surgical procedure that corrects the floppy or protruding ear. It is a beautifully artistic procedure that uses a hidden incision behind the ear. The cartilage is carefully shaped to highlight the three dimensional architecture of a normal ear. In addition to the shaping, the excess prominence is reduced by creating space and suturing the concha (bowl of the ear) back to the mastoid fascia (tissue covering the skull behind the ear) and on occasion removing some of the excess cartilage from the conchal area. The incision is closed with dissolvable suture which prevents the need for later suture removal, and a soft protective head dressing is applied.
Dallas Lip Enhancement / Augmentation
Lip enhancement or augmentation is a very popular aesthetic procedure that can be done either as an office procedure with numbing medicine, or as a surgical procedure under anesthesia. There have been many advances that have made this a highly effective and rewarding procedure. Dr. Hobar prefers to place a local anesthetic block around the mouth and then judiciously fill the lip with Juvederm Ultra Plus – R. He has found this produces the most natural and longest lasting results in an office setting. Dr. Hobar prefers to use Alloderm (collagen or protein tissue like substance derived from skin) when he performs lip augmentation as a surgical procedure. The benefits of the current fillers and Alloderm are so good and so safe, and the potential complications of an unnatural implant that can cause scarring or infection make it an easy choice for Dr. Hobar.
Neck Lift & Lower Facelift
The lower face including the area around the mouth, the lower jaw line, and the neck is an extremely important aesthetic unit. It is hard to find a model that doesn’t have a striking jaw line draped by smooth and taut skin. While most people think that the fullness that accumulates beneath the chin is fat, it is usually a combination of skin, fat and loose muscle. Nothing predisposes to premature aging of this area more than a small chin that does not provide the bone support that highlights the youthful lower face and neck. While we as humans are programmed to want the simplest approach to solving problems, this can lead to unfortunate results in facial rejuvenation. Each patient should be evaluated thoroughly and individually for optimal selection of rejuvenation procedures. While there should be dozens of points of analysis, the four major areas of concern are submental fat, muscle looseness, skin laxity, and deficient bony support.
Fraxel Re:pair
Typically, Dr. Hobar performs Fraxel Re:Pair Treatment in a operating room setting. This can be done as a stand-alone procedure or may be done in conjunction with other facial procedures, such as, facial rejuvenation, brow lift or eyelid lift. Fraxel laser treatment can be repeated if necessary; however, you may find that one treatment will produce the results you have been looking for. The Fraxel laser uses points of light to precisely treat thousands of microscopic areas of your skin. This treatment penetrates deep into the skin to remove old, damaged skin cells, which leaves your skin with a healthy, youthful glow. We have found that the Fraxel Re:Pair® Treatment has been very effective in tightening skin, softening deep wrinkles, all while dramatically improving the texture and appearance of your skin. This procedure takes approximately 15 minutes to one hour depending on if you are having the laser around your mouth, or your full face.
Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) in Dallas
Eyelid surgery is the second most common cosmetic surgical procedure in the United States. Eyelid surgery is a surgical procedure done under general anesthesia that eliminates excess skin from the eyelids, repositions and tightens the underlying supportive muscles and connective tissues and repositions and reduces the fat deposits to their appropriate position and size. It is referred to as blepharoplasty in medical terms. Dr. Hobar has a unique approach to eyelid surgery compared with some of his colleagues in that he advocates a conservative approach. He is able to skillfully and artfully create a subtle change in the eyelids that will not inhibit their function, but that will reveal a more rested, natural expression that highlights a person’s expressive eyes. His goal is to create a result that is subtle and long-lasting. Learn more about how eyelid surgery is performed and what the recovery process is like.
